25 July 2015: Open Garden Oatley

25 July 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Matt 4Visit Two sites – home and local school garden.

This small home permaculture garden in Oatley has been created over the last 10 years. It provides most of the fruit and vegetables for the family of four. There are literally dozens of productive fruit trees, chickens , a pond, grey water and purified tank water for drinking etc, solar power, weed brew and worms. The home was renovated and reorientated to take advantage if the northerly aspect. The nature strip is also under cultivation.

Oatley Public School is just down the road. An established orchard, chickens, vegetable garden, worm farm. Compost and Swales for storm water control. The canteen uses seasonal produce each day. Last summer we harvested over 30 watermelon and around 40 pumpkins.

Come and see two gardens packed with produce in the middle of winter.  If you are interested in coming along and seeing Matt’s garden and Oatley School please send an email to dlockrey@optusnet.com.au so we can have an idea of numbers attending.  This garden visit is part of your membership benefit for 2015.  Visitors welcome for $10.00.
