13 May 2016: Permachooks
13 May 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

For anyone interested in raising chickens in a suburban back yard coming along to the St George Sutherland Group meeting on 13 May 2016 is a must. Jane Mowbray will talk about food and water requirement of chooks with emphasis on hot weather, shelter and security and how to facilitate this. Discussion will also include the best breeds for backyards, cleaning chook houses and dealing with pests like lice and preventative measures to keep chooks healthy. Apart from the obvious benefit of free range eggs direct to your table, other benefits include eating weeds, veggie leftovers and table scraps and an endless source of chook poo for your compost. Chooks will provide you with endless entertainment as they are amusing and interesting to watch when they forage, scratch, chase moths, lay and sun-bake.
The event is free to anyone who is a financial member of Permaculture Sydney South. Visitors are welcome for an entry fee of $10.00
