August 8 2023: WIRES

Permaculture Sydney South is happy to have a representative of WIRES present for us on the challenges faced by our local wildlife. WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Services) is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation and has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for over 35 years. Their mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.
WIRES South Branch operates throughout St George and the Sutherland Shire. Each year they rescue and care for over 2500 animals from over 150 different species of birds, possums, flying foxes and reptiles. The presentation will give an overview of the work WIRES does, what to do if you find injured wildlife, how to make your garden wildlife friendly and how you can get involved with WIRES.
